There are more Web3 extensions in existence than the thirty-five listed here. We list the ones we can describe accurately and that are available from a provider we can link to, grouped so that a reader can find a name by thinking about their project rather than scrolling an alphabet.
The extensions are operated by Freename. Links to their platform are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission when someone registers a name. It does not change the price you pay, and it does not decide what appears in this directory — an extension is listed because it fits a category, not because of what it earns.
web3s.domains is run by a small group of people who follow new technology closely and think Web3 naming deserves to be understood better than it currently is. Affiliate commission is the whole budget: it pays for writing, for translating pages into the languages the extensions are written in, and for the social channels where most of the explaining happens.
There is no cart, no account and no search box on this site. Every purchase happens on the provider’s platform, under their terms, with their support. If a transaction goes wrong we cannot see it, reverse it or recover a name for you.
A Web3 name is not a promise of profit and nothing here should be read as a forecast. We describe what an ending is for and who uses it. What a name might be worth later is not something we claim to know.
A Web3 name does not resolve in the ordinary DNS and does not include hosting or email. Where that limit matters — a public website, a business inbox — we say so on the page rather than leaving it for you to discover after paying.
Each of the thirty-six pages was written for that ending: who registers names under it, what it says about a project, and where it is the wrong choice. That last part is the reason the pages are worth reading.
